zigvid is a free, user generated, video content and social networking website. zigvid is an exclusive platform for individuals to showcase their ideas, talents and favorite moments to the world.
What makes zigvid different from other video content sites?
zigvid is a smart, clean, fun, and edgy environment that reflects your values. The major difference between zigvid and other video content sites is that all zigvid content is screened before it is posted on the site. No video or comment with inappropriate content will be posted on zigvid. That means that all the content you see is the kind of stuff you want to see, each and every time
How does zigvid remain free of cost to users?
zigvid is absolutely free to join and use and enjoy. None of our costs are passed down to our users. Currently we are able to provide this service based on independent funding, and eventually commercial advertising (hand-picked, of course). A portion of all revenues will go to charities which reflect our community's values.
How do I sign up?
Unlike other video content sites, zigvid is an exclusive club. Membership is by invitation only. You must be personally invited by an existing zigvid member. This helps maintain the integrity of zigvid while encouraging a close-knit social network of users.
How can I request membership?
For a limited time, zigvid is accepting membership requests. Simply click on the request membership tab, fill in ALL fields as specifically as possible, and press "Request Invitation". A member of the zigvid team will then review your application, and notify regarding acceptance or rejection of your membership request. While waiting to acquire full membership, you can continue to upload videos, complete your profile, and, of course, watch videos.
What are the benefits of becoming a member?
While anyone can enjoy viewing the content at zigvid, only registered members can upload videos, comment, message, make friends, join communities, participate in contests and a whole host of other members-only activities.
How can I sign my friends up?
Once you've logged on, either from the homepage or your myzigvid page, click the "Invite someone to join" button and follow the instructions.
How do I import my email address book to zigvid?
By importing your address book you will be able to invite friends to join zigvid and invite zigvid members among your contacts to be your friends. In order to do so, you will need to provide both your email address and the password associated with that account. zigvid at no time saves any password submitted to the site. If, however you are still uncomfortable with submitting your email password, one option is to go to your email account, change your password, use this new password to import your address book, then go back to your email account and change your password back.
How do I upload my contacts from my email client?
If your email client (the program you use to send and receive email) allows you to export your contacts list (as a .csv, .vcf, or .txt file), you can upload this file to zigvid allowing you to invite friends to join zigvid and invite zigvid members among your contacts to be your friends. For more detailed instructions go to "invite", then "Invite email addressbook contacts" and follow the instructions there for your specific email client.
What does safe content mean?
The definition "safe content" can vary from one person to another. The content reviewers at zigvid have an exhaustive list of content "no-no"s. You can find this exhaustive list
here . The basics are: no sexually explicit content, no nudity, no profanity, no gratuitous violence and no content that would belittle one's religious beliefs.
How is content monitored?
Video uploads, comments and member profiles are monitored by zigvid staff in conjunction with our zigzapper volunteer community members.
What do I do if I find inappropriate content on zigvid?
While zigvid goes to great lengths to make sure that absolutely zero objectionable content makes it onto the site, rare accidents might happen. If you find something objectionable, send an email with the content's link and a description of what it is you find inappropriate about it, to
content@zigvid.com and our staff will be happy to re-evaluate the material.
What happens to users who try to post objectionable materials?
Users who try to post objectionable materials will be given a warning. If the user tries to post objectionable materials after that warning, they will be banned from zigvid and their zigID and password will no longer be valid.
From the time I upload a video, how long will it take until the video is posted?
Videos will usually be posted within a few minutes from the time you've uploaded them.
At the very least, zigvid guarantees that your video will be posted within 24 hours from the time you uploaded it. You will receive an email notification once your video is live, and available to the viewing public. If for some reason a video you uploaded contains objectionable material, you will be notified of the violation by email. You may attempt to edit the video by removing the objectionable content and re-submitting it.
How do I upload a video?
Uploading a video is easy. Simply go to the upload video link on any of the zigvid viewing pages, or on your myzigvid page. This link brings you to a page where you need to attach a video, give it a title, description and tags. You are then asked a couple of questions regarding public vs. private display. Then a final submit and your done.
What is the maximum file size that I can upload? Is there video length limit?
The maximum file size accepted by zigvid for uploading is 100MB, which is approximately the equivalent of the individual video time limit of ten minutes.
What file formats are accepted by zigvid?
Currently zigvid accepts files in the following formats: flv, wmv, mov,mpg, avi, fli, flc, xvid, ogg, DivX3, DivX4, DivX5
How long does it take to upload a video?
The length of time it takes to upload a video depends on size of the file you are uploading, the speed of your internet connection, and the amount of traffic on our servers. In general it should take somewhere between one to five minutes. That being said, it is possible that it could take up to a couple of hours. If after 4 hours (and we hope this doesn't happen) your file has not uploaded, please try to upload it again.
How do I add a video to my favorites?
To add a video to your favorites, go to the link below the video you are currently viewing and press "add to favorites".
How do I see my favorites?
In order to see all of your favorite videos, go to myzigvid > myvideos > myfavorites. There you are able to see your full list of favorited videos.
How do I share a video?
To share a video, go to the link beneath the video you are currently viewing and press "share video". To share a video, go to the link beneath the video you are currently viewing and press "share video". From there, a drop-down menu will appear with the options to share with all friends, individual friend names (friends being zigvid members) or an email address, for non-zigvid members you'd like to share with. When sharing a video with a non-member, you can also select to send them a zigvid invitation, at the same time.
How do I rate a video?
Only logged-on members can rate a video. This is done while watching a video. Rating is based on the five zig system, which appears beneath all videos, when played. Simply select the number of zigs you want to give the video (from one to five), and click on that zig. You can change your rating at any time, but only one rating per member per video is counted. You cannot rate your own videos.
What is a category?
A category is a method of classifying videos so that other zigvid users can more easily access them. When uploading a video, you must choose a category from the drop-down menu.
What does myzigvid mean?
Every member of zigvid has a myzigvid page. This is where all your account information is held. From your myzigvid page you can edit your profile, access internal messaging account and your bulletin board, see your video list, your friends, your communities and your favorites, as well as invite others to join zigvid. Basically it's control central for all your zigvid needs.
How do I embed or create a viral zigvid?
Embedding zigvids is easy. Just copy and paste the embed link (by the video player) of the video you are watching to your blog, facebook profile, or any place you like.
How do I find videos of interest to me?
The easiest way to find videos of interest is through the search function. Simply type in a title or topic name, hit search and enjoy. If, however, you are less certain as to what you are looking for you may want to try browsing videos by category, looking at the most viewed, most commented or most favorited clips. Another option is browsing through the friends pages and looking for people who might have the kind of content you are interested in.
How are videos chosen to be the zigpick of the day?

Why are there no channels?
We know you're probably used to the concept of channels from other video content sites. Always a little different, zigvid is using the concept of friends instead. So while the terminology's a little different, the function is pretty much the same. As friends, you are eligible to automatically receive one another's videos (if you so desire), comment on each other's myzigvid page, share other friends and be introduced to each other's communities.
What's a friend?
A friend is someone with whom you share videos, comments, bulletins, actions and the like. If you are not friends with someone, you cannot comment on their myzigvid page nor can you sign up to receive their videos.
How can I make/identify friends?
Making new friends is easy. If you see a video you like, go to that person's myzigvid page (via the hyperlink with their username) and invite them to be your friend. You can also scour zigvid and look for people who are creating content that is of interest to you.
How do I add a friend?
To add a friend, simply go to the person's zigvid page, an extend an invitation of friendship. Friendship on zigvid is reciprocal. Therefore, someone can only be added to your friends if they accept your invitation. You may then decide if you would like to receive this friend's videos automatically, notification of his or her commenting, and other information such as communities joined and friends added.
What's a community?
A community is a group of like-minded or like-interested people. Communities are created by individuals and can be either public or private. A public community is one that is open for all zigvid members to join. A private community is by invitation (from the community creator) only. There is a third in-between option, which is a community is open to members who's application to join must first be approved by the community creator.
How do I join a community?
There are two ways to join a community. You can be invited or you can ask to join. It depends on the type of community. Some communities are open, meaning anyone can join upon request, others require the moderator's approval (after requesting to join), while others are closed communities that are by invitation only.
